We all know the importance of good glycemic control in type 1 and type 2 diabetes. This notwithstanding it is time we take a broader whole person perspective on living with and managing diabetes. I have been involved in the psychological aspects of diabetes since 1985 and on this page I'd liek to share some of what I have learned.

The PsychologicaI Impact of Diabetes vis a vis Emotional Burden, Regimen Distress, Social Support and Provider Related Distress

Thos living with Type 2 diabetes often have negative beliefs about going on insulin. This is called Psychological Insulin Resistance and can be managed by Diabetes Care providers

Many people managing diabetes with insulin experience fear of hypoglycemia. When present the fear dominates the glucose management. Providers are encouraged to help the patient deal with the fear issues
